“Serious painters realize that art exists apart from the purposes of the creator. It either has its own life or it doesn't. A successful work speaks for itself, a failed one is mute.”

Marcia Flammonde is a New York City native who, before becoming a painter, was graduated from the School of Performing Arts, where she received the coveted Drama Award. A student of traditional forms, she also embraces the new and innovative.

Her works, which include portraits, landscapes, and abstracts have been represented in various galleries in the tri-state area, and hang in scores of private collections across the country. She works in a bold, straightforward manner, using primarily pure pigments and strong lines. Her portraits have won numerous prizes. She has recently switched from acrylics to oils, and now uses them exclusively.
